MOVING-IN TO OUR PROPERTIES – FAQ

PREPARING FOR MOVE-IN

LIST OF ITEMS TO HELP YOU GET ORGANIZED FOR YOUR MOVE IN

It is extremely important that you coordinate your move in with your roommates to alleviate confusion and make the move in process as fluid as possible. Please make sure that you know your address, zip code, and apartment number, if applicable.

 

SCHEDULING

Schedule your moving/storage company dates. The sooner, the better! Their schedules fill up quickly. Make sure to put your parking pass permit on the inside of your windshield.
It is extremely congested during move-ins and knowing where you will park will help the process.

 

RENT BREAKDOWN

It will be helpful to coordinate with your roommates to figure out what amounts you each will be paying.  Once you have figured out the breakdown, please notify our office (Email is fine) with the amounts for each person.

 

MOVE-IN DATE/TIME

Please contact the office or refer to the lease for more in-depth policies and procedures regarding move out Move-In Date & Time. Please contact us if you need this information. This is a very strict and tight schedule. If you are not able to make this time contact our office immediately to reschedule for a later date and time. Our crew will clean and paint touch-up your property first thing in the morning so please prepare to have your unit ready in the afternoon of your lease start date.

 

EARLY MOVE-IN

Early move is not allowed.  If the property becomes available earlier than your lease start date WE will contact YOU.
We do not charge any early move-in fees!

 

KEYS AND PARKING PERMITS

At move in, one person will be given a set amount of keys/Permits. Please refer to the security deposit agreement for our policy on returning keys (end of lease term), losing keys, and etc.
Parking: Each unit has assigned parking spaces.  You will be given a Parking Permit with your parking space #.  Please attach the permit on the inside of your front windshield.
If you will be parking via street parking, please make sure to arrange parking through the city PRIOR to your arrival, this will help with a smooth transition.

 

UTILITIES

Prior to your move in you will need to contact all applicable utility companies to schedule a transfer date. You MUST have all appropriate utilities transferred into somebody’s name within the property, before anyone is able to move in. The primary companies you will be using are Peoples Gas, and ComED.  Please contact our office for utilities information for your property.

 

PACKAGES/MAIL

Please update any mailing addresses with the post office.  You will receive a mailbox key for your property.  Please make sure to update any addresses for packages with UPS, FEDEX, USPS, etc.
Please note: You may NOT have packages sent to the office or to the property prior or during your lease term.  If they are received they will be sent back. Wilmot Properties is not responsible for any lost or damaged items. We recommend that you require a signature when your package arrives at the property.

 

COMMON AREAS AND ADDITIONAL STORAGE

Please make sure to keep common areas such as entrances, garages clean and do not trash the areas.  Our maintenance crew cleans these areas once a week.
If your property included a storage locker, please store your items in your assigned locker.  If your property does not have a storage locker, storing any items in the garage is not allowed.  If any item is lost or stolen, Wilmot Properties is not liable.
